Who can believe that it has been over 25 years since Melanie Griffith appeared on screen as 80's idol Tess McGill in Working Girl.  The iconic film inspired the power dressing wardrobe of many young and enthusiastic girls heading to their office jobs - determined to make a difference and be noticed in a male dominant arena.  For those too young to remember the big hair, the shoulder pads, dogtooth prints and polka dot tights then this classic film should make its way on to your 'old films to watch' list.

The teased and frizzy hair of Melanie's character has thankfully not made a return to the catwalk this season but Balmain and Saint Laurent did echo early Madonna with major ruffles, mini-length prom skirts but fortunately not a perm in sight!

Thankfully over the decades workwear has relaxed and softened a lot but hair can always benefit from being styled, neat and elegant when in the work place.

As Tess's friend Cyn says in the film (prior to her makeover) - "You want to be taken seriously, you need serious hair".
