In a recent issue, Closer Magazine brought together a selection of the best hair products in an essential guide to holiday-proofing your hair.

We all know of the effects the sun can have on our skin but sun damage to hair, as well as sea salt and chlorine, can also leave our locks dry, brittle, dull and generally frazzled.  According to our friends at Closer the perfect way to protect your hair begins before you even take off. Get split ends trimmed to prevent hair drying out and this will allow your hair to better withstand heat. A nourishing daily mask is also a good way to add the much needed moisture your hair will require.

The second step is to drench hair with water before getting into a chlorine-filled pool - the water acts as a barrier.  

Step three is to spray hair with a sunshine protector and to tie hair up.  Closer Magazine recommend tying hair in a top knot to stop long hair getting bleached and fried. They very wisely recommend using a Popband as they are snag free!

The final step is to avoid using straightening irons or a hair-dryer as they will dry it out further.  

Your locks will now be left soft and shiny as you bask in the summer heat.
